Arbor Day Celebration 2009
Yesterday students at Fannie W. Fitzgerald participated in an Arbor Day Celebration. A beautiful weeping willow tree was planted on the south lawn in honor of this occasion. After a brief introduction by Principal Deraine Simpson, SCA President Maureen Acheampong led the 800 plus assembly of students, staff, and honored guests in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Next, all were graced by the beautiful voices of our school chorus led by Dr. Ware, our music education specialist. Comments regarding the significance of Arbor Day were offered by Supervisor John Jenkins, Maureen Acheampong, and Jayla Turk, SCA Vice-President. The program ended with a "sunny" rendition of "Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun" brought to us by the Kindergarten classes. Below are photos of the event |
